FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team
SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update
The “Lay Low” period that the College implemented for the first week of January Term has come to a close and Gustavus has transitioned back to its “Orange” Safety Phase that was in place for most of fall semester. Members of the community are reminded of operations in these key areas:
Classes and Labs
Classes and labs are now being delivered in online, hybrid, or in-person formats based on instructor choice.
Study spaces
Students may now gather to study together based on the COVID-19 occupancy limit of the room. Students must be masked and maintain physical distancing while using these study spaces with others.
Meetings and Events
If necessary, meetings and events may resume happening in person following general COVID-19 safety protocols. Virtual meetings should still be the norm when possible. Any gathering over 20 people needs to complete a COVID-19 safety plan.
Fine Arts
Fine arts activities can resume or continue following the College’s COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Lund Center Usage/Athletics
Students approved to be on campus for January may sign up for a time to exercise in Lund Center. New in January is a trial program to allow employees to sign up to exercise in Lund Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Students and employees should call the Lund Information Desk to sign up at 507-933-6660.
Athletic practices are resuming this week with increased testing and following COVID-19 protocols approved by the MIAC and NCAA.
Visitors
The College’s “Orange” protocols dictate that all visitors to campus must have a campus host and complete the COVID-19 visitor registration form. No off-campus visitors are allowed in residence halls at any time. In residence halls, students may allow other Gustavus students to visit as long as all occupants are masked and physically distant and the maximum number of people in the room is no more than double the occupancy of the room.
As of January 11, 2021
