Technology Services has begun working with the Marketing and Communication team to refresh the College’s website with a goal of relaunching in spring/summer 2021. While we have been through this process many times before, it is always one fraught with anxiety as we scramble to gather and process input from the community before, ultimately, translating that information into a working website. It’s impossible to keep everyone happy along the way, but we will endeavor to listen, ask questions, and put forth our best efforts. What we need in return is for you to spend some brief amount of time thinking about the website. What do you like, and why? What works, and what doesn’t? Who does the website need to serve first and foremost? Then share that feedback with us. We’ll be sending everyone an online survey in early November. Please fill it out and submit it. We’ll also be working with a fantastic committee that will be tasked with gathering more informal feedback. And finally, we hope to offer a couple of listening sessions where we can be present to field your questions and thoughts directly (via virtual conferencing). Our hope is, at the end of this, we’ll have enough information to guide our later decisions.
As per our previous process, we are roughly breaking this into four phases with slightly updated names and focuses: information gathering, research and planning, design and implementation, and assessment. Our last major redesign taught us that the assessment piece was hugely important—both in terms of producing a functioning website, and giving us the peace of mind that comes after successfully completing a task. That is why it will take on a larger role in this upcoming process. You will be encouraged to share your thoughts throughout, but with a little more emphasis during the first and last phases.
As always, if you have any thoughts or questions that you’d like to share, feel free to contact us. We’re always happy to hear and respond to your feedback!
