The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men's soccer Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Gustavus goalkeeper Matt Bateman (Jr., Savage, Minn.) receiving the honor after posting two shutouts over the weekend.

Men’s Soccer Earns Season-Opening Shutout Win At UW-Superior

The Gustavus men's soccer team began its 2017 campaign on the right foot, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Superior 1-0 Friday afternoon. The Gusties move their record to 1-0-0 overall as goalkeeper Matt Bateman (Jr., Savage, Minn.) turned away two shots on goal for the shutout and Arthur Parens (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) tallied the lone goal of the game to solidify the season-opening win against the Yellowjackets.

The Gustavus men’s soccer team opens its 2017 campaign this weekend as they head up north to take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior tomorrow and the College of St. Scholastica on Sunday. This year's Gustie squad returns a large portion of experience from last season and features a competitive non-conference schedule. 

Men’s Soccer To Celebrate 50 Seasons In 2017

The 2017 Gustavus men's soccer campaign marks a monumental milestone for the program as it celebrates 50 seasons at the College. The 50th season celebration takes place on Saturday, Oct. 14 as the Gusties host MIAC foe Saint John's at 1 p.m. After the match, Head Coach Mike Middleton and the Gusties invite Gustavus men's soccer alumni, family, and friends to celebrate the program's history at the Linneaus Arboretum Interpretive Center, which will include a pot-luck style meal. 

Men’s Soccer Player Alex Wilson Combines Hard Work On And Off The Field

Junior men's soccer player Alex Wilson (Ashland, Wis.) is a three-year letter winner of the Gustavus men’s soccer team, known for his work ethic on and off the field. Wilson, a double major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Classics, recently completed his Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), pursuing a medical school education. Wilson is well on his way to a medical school of his choice, scoring in the top two percent.

Murakami And Parens Named MIAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Men’s Soccer Awards on Thursday and Gustavus owned two honorees on the All-Conference team in Matt Murakami (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Arthur Parens (So., Wayzata, Minn.).

Two early goals by Augsburg College spelled defeat for the Gustavus men’s soccer team Tuesday in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs. The Gusties responded with one goal, but the score remained 2-1 for a final, ending Gustavus’s season at 7-9-1 overall.

Senior women's soccer player Maddison Ackiss (Fairbanks, Alaska) and junior men’s soccer player Matt Murakami (Eden Prairie, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College October Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Men’s Soccer Hosts Augsburg In MIAC Quarterfinal Tuesday

The Gustavus men’s soccer team secured the No. 3 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs and is set to host No. 6 Augsburg at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round. The Gusties enter the game with a 7-8-1 overall record and finished 6-3-1 in the MIAC, while Augsburg is 7-9-2 overall and went 4-4-2 league play.
