Finalists for the Minnesota Book Award are two from the Class of ’83

Athena Owen Kildegaard ’83 and Su Smallen ’83 are finalists for the Minnesota Book Award in Poetry. Award winners will be announced at the 24th Annual Minnesota Book Awards Gala on Saturday, April 14. Congratulations to you both!

 

Unbeaten Season Comes To An End, UW-Superior Upsets Women’s Hockey 5-1

Aspirations of an unbeaten season for the Gustavus women’s hockey team came to end Tuesday night in Superior, Wis. as No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Superior upset the fifth-ranked Gusties 5-1. Gustavus falls to 14-1-2 overall with its first loss since its 2010-11 campaign ended in the third place game of the NCAA Championships, while Superior improves to 12-5-2 on the year.

Another Top 10 Battle Tuesday As Women’s Hockey Travels To UW-Superior

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets on Tuesday night in Superior, Wis. The Gusties come into the match-up ranked No. 5 in the nation, and No. 1 in the West Region, according to the latest United States College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) poll with a 14-0-2 overall record and 9-0-1 mark in the MIAC. Superior is ranked No. 10 in the USCHO.com poll - 4th in the West - with an 11-5-2 overall mark and 10-3-1 record in the NCHA.

 

Sam Opsahl Named WIAC Gymnastics Specialist-Of-The-Week

Gustavus Adolphus junior gymnast Sam Opsahl (Forest Lake, Minn.) has been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Gymnastics Specialist-of-the-Week for her performance at the John Zuerlein Invitational hosted by UW-Stout on Saturday, Jan. 27. Women’s Basketball Back On Track, Tops Augsburg 63-58

The Gustavus women’s basketball team got back in the win column Monday night in St. Peter, Minn. with a 63-58 victory over Augsburg. The Gusties improve to 16-3 overall and 14-2 in the MIAC, while the Auggies fall to 11-8 overall and 8-8 in conference action.
